Savanna Quest Uganda operates the website savannaquestuganda.com and provides tour and travel services throughout Uganda. This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors, users, and clients who interact with our website or services.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with transparency and care. By using our website or booking our services, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2.1 Non-Personally Identifying Information

Our purpose in collecting this information is to better understand how visitors use our website.   • Bookings: When you book a safari, gorilla trekking permit, or other service, we collect additional information necessary to fulfill your reservation, including passport details (as required by the Uganda Wildlife Authority), nationality, date of birth,  accommodation preferences, and emergency contact information.
  • Payments: We collect payment information to process deposits and final payments. All payment transactions are processed through secure third-party platforms. We do not store credit card details on our own servers.

2.3 Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses

We may collect Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged-in users and for users leaving inquiries or comments on our website. We disclose IP addresses only under the same circumstances that we use and disclose personally-identifying information as described below.

3. How We Use Your Information

We collect and use your information only as necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of your interaction with us, including:

  • Bookings & reservations: To secure gorilla trekking permits (which require passport details), lodge accommodations, transportation, and other services you request.
  • Communication: To respond to inquiries, provide itineraries, share travel tips, and keep you informed before, during, and after your journey.
  • Personalization: To tailor experiences to your interests, dietary needs, accessibility requirements, and special requests.
  • Safety & compliance: To ensure your well-being during travel and to comply with legal requirements, including those of the Uganda Wildlife Authority and other regulatory bodies.
  • Service improvement: To understand traveler preferences and enhance the experiences we offer.
  • Marketing (opt-in only): To send occasional updates, special offers, or travel inspiration. You may opt out at any time.

You may always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the understanding that it may prevent you from engaging in certain website-related activities or booking certain services (such as gorilla trekking, which requires permit registration).

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not rent or sell your personally-identifying information to anyone. We disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to:

  • Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA): For gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking permits, which require exact passport details and names as they appear on travel documents.
  • Lodges & accommodations: To prepare for your arrival, including dietary preferences, room preferences, and special requests.
  • Transport providers: For airport transfers, vehicle rentals, and inter-park transportation arrangements.
  • Payment processors: Secure third-party platforms (e.g., PayPal, Stripe, or bank partners) to process deposits and final payments.
  • Legal authorities: In response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Savannah Quest Uganda, third parties, or the public at large.

Some of these recipients may be located outside your home country. By using our services, you consent to the transfer of your information to such locations.

5. Data Security

We take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

We protect your data by:
